Taste of the West, established in 1991, is the regional food and drink trade organisation for the South West of England whose remit is to develop the region’s exceptional regional food and drink industry. By way of promoting the wealth of quality producers, chefs and food establishments the organisation stages a prestigious annual Awards programme. The Awards are one of the most highly respected in the food and drink industry and were established sixteen years ago. They highlight successful and high quality businesses across food and drink production, hospitality and food retail. Judging panels are made up of industry experts including chefs, food technologists, food and food preparation trainers/teachers, trade buyers and food writers.
Squid Ink restaurant, which opened in Looe in July 2008, entered the competition for the first time this year and was awarded a Silver in the restaurant category, one of only 12 restaurants to receive an award across Cornwall. You can see the full list of winners across the South West counties at www.tasteofthesouthwest.co.uk
